- "My parents spent their lives helping people. I was so proud of them, and I always wanted them to be proud of me."

The Wayne Foundation, also known as the Thomas and Martha Wayne Foundation is a charity organization established by Thomas and Martha Wayne shortly before their murder.
History[]
Arkham Asylum was partially funded by the Wayne Foundation, since the asylum was a cause close to Thomas and Martha Wayne's hearts. Since the organization gave the asylum money every year, it allowed Bruce Wayne and Lucius Fox to ask for a tour as an excuse to get into Arkham Asylum. In reality, they were actually trying to find out about Hugo Strange's illegal activities and experiments at the asylum.[1]
Bruce Wayne attended the third annual dinner for the Wayne Foundation at Gotham Square, where he was scheduled to make a speech. At the foundation, he ran into Alfred Pennyworth, with whom he had a short conversation. However, the event was then interrupted by Ivy Pepper, who wanted to kill as many attendees as possible using her deadly plants. When the GCPD arrived shortly after, Bruce donned a vigilante suit in order to help rescue the people at the dinner.[2]

Notes[]
- In DC Comics, the Wayne Foundation is a charity organization run by Wayne Enterprises, first appearing in Detective Comics #328 (1964). When Dick Grayson left Gotham City in order to attend university in Batman #217 (1969), Bruce Wayne felt that an era came to an end and decided that him and Alfred would move out of Wayne Manor, seal the Batcave and leave it behind. They then moved into the penthouse apartment of the Wayne Foundation Building in the city. Batman would use the penthouse as his headquarters for the following years, which had various advantages, such as the new residence being inside the city centre itself, while Wayne Manor was located outside the city. The penthouse included a private elevator that connected to a secret underground area that acted as the new Batcave. It was not until the early 1980s that Batman decided to return to Wayne Manor, now having realized that it was far more advantageous to be less accessible to the public when living on the outskirts of Gotham City, as opposed to a central penthouse.
- This is the second live-action version of the Wayne Foundation, the first being in the 1966 TV series Batman.
- In "Reunion", Bruce states that his parents' foundation is having their annual dinner, indicating that they established the charity organization before their murder. However, it is later mentioned that this is the third annual dinner of the Wayne Foundation. Since it was confirmed on multiple occasions over the course of the show that one season takes place over the course of around one year, this would mean that the foundation celebrated its first annual dinner at the time of mid-Season 2. This would mean that the tradition of hosting an annual dinner was only started when the Waynes were already deceased for more than one year.
- Wayne Enterprises' Charity Ball Luncheon in the episode "Viper" was most likely also hosted by the Wayne Foundation.
