Gotham Wiki

The lapel flower was an orange-red boutonnière flower owned by Jeremiah Valeska, which he often wore on the lapel of his suit jacket during No Man's Land.

History[]

Valeska was first seen wearing his lapel flower when he and Ecco invaded Wayne Manor after digging a tunnel under the Gotham River in order to get to the mainland.[1]

The following day, Jeremiah had the boutonniere tucked into his lapel when he came to Gotham in order to capture and abduct Alfred Pennyworth.[2]

Jeremiah wore the boutonniere on his blue suit jacket during his fight with Bruce Wayne at Ace Chemicals. The status of his lapel flower remains unknown after Jeremiah's fall into the chemical vat, though it is likely that it was either heavily damaged or entirely destroyed when it came into contact with the toxic acid.[3]

Notes[]

  • Jeremiah's lapel flower is a precursor to the acid flower, an iconic weapon used by the Joker in DC Comics and various other forms of Batman media. The Joker's Acid Flower was one of his infamous comedic weapons that was usually tucked into his suit lapel and often sprayed deadly substances like acid or laughing gas.
  • This is the third live-action version of Joker's Boutonnière, with the first being in the 1966 Batman television series, and the second being in the 1989 movie Batman.
