Brown Bridge is one of the main bridges in Gotham City. It connects Downtown Gotham with the mainland in the west.[1] The bridge was destroyed during the Cataclysm, but later reconstructed following the end of the No Man's Land crisis.
History[]

Brown Bridge in Gotham City
Carmine Falcone, Sal Maroni and Fish Mooney once made a deal about Oswald Cobblepot near the Brown Bridge.[2]
After his resurrection, Jerome Valeska stole a GCPD car and used it to run over a pedestrian near Brown Bridge.[3]
As one of Gotham City's main bridges, Brown Bridge was among the bridges that were destroyed during the Cataclysm. Jeremiah Valeska and Ra's al Ghul used Self-perpetuating Generators to blow up the bridges that connected Gotham City to the mainland.[1][4]
The destroyed Brown Bridge later appeared on James Gordon's map of Gotham during the No Man's Land crisis.[4][5]
After the end of the No Man's Land year, the bridges that connected Gotham City with the mainland were eventually rebuilt.[6]
Behind the scenes[]
- The Williamsburg Bridge across the East River in New York City was used as a filming location for Brown Bridge in Gotham.
- Williamsburg Bridge is located near Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Bridge, which appeared in Gotham as Trigate Bridge and its unnamed sister bridge. Establishing Shots for Gotham sometimes showed all three bridges.
Notes[]
- In the DC Comics, Brown Bridge is one of three bridges that connect Gotham City with the mainland, the other two being Trigate Bridge and the Robert Kane Memorial Bridge. Brown Bridge appears on the official map of Gotham City by Eliot R. Brown that is regularly used in the comics and other Batman media, including the television series Gotham.
- Brown Bridge may have been named after comic book artist Bob Brown, who is remembered as the co-creator of DC characters like Copperhead and Talia al Ghul.
- Brown Bridge was also demolished in the comics during the storyline Batman: No Man's Land. It was later rebuilt and given the new name Vincefinkel Bridge. During the New 52 reboot, the bridge was eventually renamed Burnside Bridge when the neighborhood across the Gotham River was established as Burnside.
