Gotham Wiki

Air Gotham is an aircraft company in Gotham City that operates airships.

History[]

The Legion of Horribles invaded an Air Gotham hangar on Jerome Valeska's orders to steal a blimp and gas a large number of citizens in Paisley Square with Laughing Toxin. Scarecrow used an acidic variant of Fear Gas to kill one of the blimp captains in the hangar while the Mad Hatter hypnotized his colleague. When Penguin called Valeska's plan "madness", Scarecrow revealed that Jerome anticipated this betrayal and had one of the Legion's henchmen knock Cobblepot out. Tetch ordered the thug to put Oswald on the airship. Cobblepot later woke up in the blimp which was steered by the hypnotized pilot. Penguin contacted Jim Gordon via phone call and was then able to prevent the pilot from dropping the laughing gas on the citizens at the Paisley Square festival. Afterwards, he managed to steer the blimp away from the square and out over the Gotham River.[1]

Notes[]

  • In DC Comics, Gotham City's skyline is usually depicted with airships flying over the city. Most of the time, these blimps are owned and operated by the Gotham City Police Department and commonly use searchlights at night. These police airships were first introduced in Batman: The Animated Series and later also incorporated into the comics.
    • While Air Gotham is a private company that only appeared in the episode "A Dark Knight: That's Entertainment", the police blimps from the comics were also sometimes seen in the city skyline in previous episodes of Gotham.
  • The Air Gotham logo was created by graphic designer Loren Kane.[2]
